We got into our hotel room today about noon. After settling in, we took a walk along the beach. We walked a mile today. My calves hurt so much that it felt as if someone were walking behind me hitting me with a hammer. Made it safely back to our room in time to get cleaned up for supper. Today was Pat Halls birthday and we went to a restaurant at Port Canaveral called Milligans Reef. It was a very nice restaurant and occasionally, we could see some small boats come by.
Here is Pat eating her cupcake.
After we had finished supper, we were sitting around the table we someone said the cruise ship is leaving. It was the Carnival Pride. We all went outside and watched it on its way out to sea.
After the ship left, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
Thursday morning found us sleeping in until 9:00. After eating a light breakfast, we decided to go for a walk along the ocean. I figured since we walked 1 mile yesterday, we would probably walk a mile and a half today. Wrong!… Miss Judy decided to keep going just a little further. We walked 3 miles today. I crawled the last quarter mile back. On the walk, we came across this turtle that had washed up on the shore a couple days ago.
It was starting to get a little ripe but it was big, at least 50 pounds. We also spotted several of these.
These are Portugese Man of War. They have very long tentacles and if the tentacle touch your skin, they sting you. Fortunately, we didn’t get stung by any of them today.
Here’s a shot of the ocean.
Tonight, we were invited to supper at the Officers Club on the Air Force Base located just North of us. It was buffet style and the entertainment was good. The main entertainers were a man and woman who sang, played the trumpets, and played the keyboard. Half way through the entertainment, they had some cloggers come in and dance.
After the cloggers were through, they opened up the dance floor for anyone who wanted to dance.
The gentleman in the striped shirt was really cutting the rug. He was really spry. As he and he lady were sitting down, the lady told us that he was 89. I didn’t believe it. After the event was over, I walked up to the gentleman and asked him how old he was. He said, “How old do you think I am?” I told him I thought he was probably in his middle 70’s. He told me he was 88. I told him he was an inspiration to me and I could only hope to move that good when I get his age.
We took Gary and Pat home and while driving back to our hotel, we spotted several cop cars and people standing around watching something. We pulled over and realized it was the guys from “Cops” doing a ride along. They had their cameras rolling, and had their boom mikes out over some individuals. They were leading one guy back to the squad car in handcuffs. As we were leaving, one of the deputies was doing an interview. Pretty neat.
Goodnight John Boy!
